Seattle Open Budget Budget

On September 27, 2022, Mayor Bruce Harrell shared his City of Seattle 2023-2024 Proposed Budget. The proposed budget includes approximately $7.4 billion in appropriations overall, including $1.6 billion in General Fund and $294 million in JumpStart Payroll Expense Tax.

This is the first budget under Mayor Harrell’s administration, and it takes action to address our City’s most urgent needs, get the basics right, and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. Key One Seattle budget investment priorities include: housing and homelessness, public safety, access to opportunity, healthy communities, climate and environment, safe and reliable transportation, and good government.

This budget also reflects the reality of General Fund deficits as our city continues to recover and reopen, and balances bending the curve on new spending with critical support for our most vulnerable community members.
